New Windows-based COBOL development tool

CASEGEN Systems Ltd announces that Cobol for Windows is now available free-of-charge to promote the use of Cobol as a powerful Windows95/NT graphical development tool.

Cobol for Windows is a member of Casegen's family of integrated visual development tools, enabling existing Cobol programmers to rapidly build high performance graphical 32 bit Cobol programs for Windows 95 and Windows NT platforms. This free version allows programmers to graphically design small to medium sized programs, and then immediately generate them into high quality Cobol code, including all necessary Windows logic complete with data validation and formatting logic. Additional Cobol application code can be provided by the programmer using the powerful Casegen Cobol editor. The complete program can be tested immediately following the integrated build, enabling developers to rapidly prototype applications with users.

Included on the free CD is the powerful Casegen Cobol editor with full syntax highlighting, plus the Fujitsu 32-bit Cobol compiler. Support is provided at no charge for the first 90 days, then, if required, at £150 per year per developer.

For larger programs, or for those using SQL to access ODBC relational databases, developers can upgrade to Cobol for Windows Professional for a one time charge of £750 per developer, including first year support. Organisations already paying support for Cobol for Windows are able to upgrade to the Professional version for a one time charge of £500 per developer.
