Silver Mountain Data Systems, LTd. Announces PEOY2K

New Cobol Analysis Tool Helps with Y2K Analysis

The company's original tool, Program Entity Organizer PEO, has been modified with Y2k specific features and there are enhancements, especially for CICS applications.

It is offered as an inexpensive Windows-based personal tool for the individual COBOL programmer/consultant. It works with Win3.1, 95, and WinNT 4.0.

It is primarily for mainframe IBM MVS batch COBOL but does recoginze IMS CBLTDLI calls, DB2 commands, and has enhanced CICS analysis capabillities.

The product:

  • Gives the programmer a program-by-program list of date-related elements by matching a user supplied list of strings to data elements names.
  • Incorporates the date-related elements into its data base of relations to other entities in the COBOL program(s).
  • Lets the programmer trace the web of relations through programs and called subprograms
  • Finds where data elements (e.g., dates) are referenced indirectly via their parent groups
  • Has the same features and screens as the original PEO but with important enhancements such as the Y2k features and the improved CICS capabilities.
